3. REPORTS
(a) Treasurer's Report -- Fred Heath, AI3Z
Started September with $1309.25. After snacks, 50/50, and income from 1 new member’s dues, we have bank balance: $1323.75 at end of September.
(b) Station Equipment and Operation Reports
i. Northrop Grumman Family Net, Weds 3pm ET – Chip W4PBG / Bob K3FQP
Bob reports that operating has been a real pleasure with no line noise. Recently heard E77DX station in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The net has had low attendance lately – about 5 regulars vs. 12-15 in past.
Chip reports that the net and station have been great. Recently talked to Mozambique, Sardinia, and Morocco. Everyone coming in an “honest” 59.
ii. Monthly Power Line Noise Report – Rol K3RA
Station noise is much improved. BGE did work; some noises could be fixed, but some new ones have also surfaced.
Glenn Booth continues to inform Rol about what has been fixed. Most problems fixed so far have been ground wires and lightning arrestors.
There are a number of noises in this geographic area besides the ones that have been fixed. Some members have noticed a “popping noise” in the area, as well as a very bad noise near the corner of Rt 170 & 176. Let Rol know if you notice other specific noises.
iii. Antenna Issues
Jim N3GOO proposed a wiring diagram for Fred’s crossover switch from last month. The wiring scheme would make use of the crossover switch to allow more switching between antennas while preventing users from connecting two radios. Jim noted that the wiring was “sufficiently confusing” to require placing the diagram or instructions at the station and suggested Fred construct the panel. Rol suggested we connect the cables if we don’t get around to making the panel. No one volunteered to do the assembly/construction.
iv. Radio Issues
Yaesu FT-920: seems fixed although Gary was unable to find anything wrong with it.
New radio (Icom): We need to send the giver a thank you letter and “deed of gift”.
(c) QSL Report – Nick K3NY
No news.
(d) FISTS Report - Nick K3NY
No news.
(e) Training Report -- Rol Anders, K3RA
About 12 people in class. Tom Christovich will be covering next class.
Week before Thanksgiving is estimated end of class, so exam is tentatively scheduled for the 1st of December; 8th of December as fallback. Rol will check with the class.
(f) FAR Report
We still need a FAR Representative.
