3. REPORTS
(a) Treasurer's Report -- Fred Heath, AI3Z
The club has a bank balance of $1337.39.
Motion passed to reimburse Zack for pizza from Field Day (about $109).
(b) Station Equipment and Operation Reports
i. Northrop Grumman Family Net, Weds 3pm – Chip W4PBG / Bob K3FQP
Would welcome more people checking in with the net or dropping by the museum to visit/chat at the time the net is scheduled.
ii. Monthly Power Line Noise Report
Power line noise continues. As discussed at the June meeting, the sense of the club is that if the problem is not resolved by Sept 09, a year from our request, we need to contact FCC.
(c) Training Report -- Rol Anders, K3RA
General class will start the 15th of September (3rd Tuesday) and is expected to run about 10-12 weeks, until about the end of November.
The question pool committee is rewriting the Technician class pool, which will become official in June 2010.
(d) Field Day recap
Motion passed to send an invitation and free membership for the remainder of 2009 to all persons on the Field Day visitor log who are not already members/ARRL officials.
FD results: no "dead" hours in middle of night, slightly better than last year in number of contacts, and continuous rate of contacts: about 56/hr and 30/hr through night. 9 satellite contacts! Computers were networked for logging (thanks to Fred AI3Z) and that worked well. FD Log and photos to be posted on the website.
4. OLD BUSINESS
(a) New Logo for the Club
Logo designs will be posted to the website and information sent to the mailing list so that logos can be considered and then the club can pick a logo at the August meeting.
(b) Rules and Regulations update
Discussion/voting on club rules and regulations was tabled until next meeting. At the August meeting the club will vote and John Paul will send out information for proxy voting for members not present.
(d) Disposition of items from Hallicrafters & Heathkits exhibit
At the previous meeting we had discussed the diposition of items from this exhibit (including Hallicrafters sx-28, SX-17, sb-300) and whether they should be donated to the museum or kept by the club. The club was concerned about whether we would be able to operate items again if donated.
Rol and Jim suggested the use of the equipment in an additional exhibit in the communications gallery, such as a working station chronologically between the spark station and ours (1935ish operating display), or a Hallicrafters-specific exhibit with emphasis on the historical significance of equipment such as the SX-28.
Chip Weems withdrew a motion to have museum acquisitions committee review items for possible selection (this motion had been tabled at the last meeting).
A motion passed that: the club shall maintain our items of historical significance for future exhibition and operation and we shall not donate them to the museum at this time.
5. NEW BUSINESS
Technical presentations
August: Rol will present re Windham antenna.
September: Show & Tell
A suggestion was made to move the presentations to the beginning of the meeting (before the business meeting) to make the meetings more fun for new members but the club has not yet decided on this format.
Suggest or volunteer for a presentation/demo by contacting John Paul!
