2. MINUTES
The minutes from the 12 March 2009 meeting were approved.

3. REPORTS
(a) Treasurer's Report -- Fred Heath, AI3Z
Fred Heath AI3Z was not present.

(b) Station Equipment and Operation Reports

i. Northrop Grumman Family Net, Weds 3pm -- Chip Weems, W4PBG
Chip reports that on the Wednesday net as usual we received 59 reports from everyone but had trouble hearing some of the participants; noise is still a problem.

ii. Monthly Power Line Noise Report
Chip W4PBG reports that we are still experiencing S7 to S9 noise – it has not changed.

iii. Antenna Issues, if any; items for possible Antenna Work Party
Everything is in relatively good shape. Heru's preamp is the only item to put up, but it was not ready at the beginning of April so we will wait to schedule a work party until it is ready.

iv. Station Equipment Issues, if any
Problems with our Yaesu FT-920:
* Last month Gary Hendrickson W3DTN and Heru Walmsley W3WVV volunteered to look into repairing our 920.
* Gary has not yet looked at the 920 and Heru was not in attendance.
* Rol Anders K3RA had said we have the maintenance manual.
* Gary may take the 920 home to put it on the bench.

(c) Training Report -- Rol Anders, K3RA (not present)
The Technician class started April 7; 15 students attended the first class and 4 more were interested. The class will last about 8 weeks with an exam session scheduled for June 2.

4. OLD BUSINESS

(a) New Logo for the Club
Members present like the design started by Ulis Fleming K3LU and would like to see design options with different colors as well as with the club name and callsign. Laurie Knaack KB3ORF will bring further designs to the next meeting.

(b) Hamfests
The club did not have a booth at the Timonium Hamfest 3/28-3/29; there were not enough volunteers. Members who attended report that turnout was good on Saturday but very low on Sunday.

Discussion followed about other upcoming hamfests. The club has a lot of old equipment etc. slated to be sold at a hamfest. Suggestions included Howard County, Manassas, BRATS, and Berryville. Berryville, VA (just east of Winchester, about 1.5 hours from here) is a very popular hamfest known for barbecue and scheduled for the first Sunday in August (Aug 2 2009).

The consensus was that we should plan to attend Berryville hamfest (http://www.svarc.us/hamfest/) on Aug 2.

5. NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Club members were reminded that the e-mail mailing list has changed to hams at k3nem.org to match the new website (old list @hemarc.com will be turned off soon).

Next regular meeting: Thursday 14 May 2009 at 6:00 p.m. local time.

Respectfully submitted, Laurie Knaack, KB3ORF
